Red Light District called also De Wallen is situated in the heart of Amsterdam between narrow streets and spectacular water canals. Between numerous sexshops, sex theatres and striptease clubs, are to be found eye-catching red light rooms where the oldest job in the world is performed. Women and transexuals are offering sexual services for a fee in the world’s most famous street.

This street can be visited day and night but if you really want to see and feel the Red Light vibe try to pass by in the evenings. Photos and videos of the girls who sits in windows are strictly forbidden to protect them privacy.

This area is populated not only by windows (so are called the red light rooms) but many bars and coffeshops are in the area too. In the same place you will find museums like Ons Lieve Heer Op Solder and few more.

You can’t visit Amsterdam and not pass by Red Light District; this is for sure a thing which you must thick it off your bucket list. It’s very safe in the broad day but also in the late nights. Be aware that in the weekends will be extremely busy and you have a big change to find all the windows with closed curtains and not much to enjoy.

Although the windows are spread on more streets and side streets, the most known one is called Oudezijds Voorburgwal and is located in the back of Dam square by a 3 minutes walk.
